Experts at Northeast Mechanical walked us through the process of steps to take to prepare for warmer weather. You might be anxious to get your AC up and running, but there are a few important things you need to do first. Home heating and cooling expert Dick Lynch walked us through the process.

There are three or four steps that are essential for the homeowner to prepare their air conditioning system for this hot summer coming up.

Step 1: Turn the thermostat too off.

Step 2: Be sure all of the leaves and debris are away from your air conditioning unit and pull off the cover. Wash off all four sides of the unit, start at the top and work your way down and go all the way around. The cleaner you keep it the more efficient it will run.

Step 3: Replace or clean the air filter and get it ready for the season.

Step 4: Go to the power source and power up the air conditioning system. Then program the thermostat and switch it to cooling.
